FREE Income Tax Clinics across the province offered by CRAs Community Volunteer Income Tax Program. These free tax preparation clinics and arrange for volunteers to prepare income tax and benefit returns for eligible individuals who have a modest income and a simple tax situation. ( for seniors making $30,000 or less and couples making $40,000 or less)

New Hope Al-ANON

• The New Hope AL-ANON group meets Tuesday 7:30 p.m. at the U-Turn Addictions Centre in Carbonear, located at 46 Powell Drive. A 12-step recovery program for relatives and friends of alcoholics. For more information, call Lorraine at 596-2171.

NAR-ANON

• The Trinity Conception NAR-ANON Family Group offers a 12-step program designed to help relatives and friends of addicts recover from the effects of their addiction.

We always maintain personal anonymity. Meetings are held Wednesday nights from 7:30-8:30 p.m. at the U-Turn Addictions Centre, 46 Powell Drive, in Carbonear. For more information, call 786-1797 after 5 p.m.

DROP IN SENIORS PROGRAM ( Clarenville )

GATHER - Bill Davis Chalet each Tuesday and Thursday, 1:30-4 p.m. Anyone aged 50 or over is welcome.

TWIN TOWN SENIOR CARD GAME( clarenville)

The Twin Town Seniors 50 Plus Group card games are held each Monday & Friday at 8 p.m. at the Seniors’ Centre, 51 Memorial Drive. All ages welcome. Regular monthly meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month. New members welcome. For more information contact Gunter Kromm at 466 – 6121.

RUG HOOKING GROUP ( clarenville)

Meets at the Clarenville Library every Tuesday afternoon at 1:30pm. For more information, contact Diane Hodder, 466-1496 or Karen Bursey 466-8033.

COPING WITH LOSS? ( clarenville)

Have you or someone you know suffered the tragic loss of a loved one? A local support group meets 8 p.m., third Tuesday monthly at 310 Memorial Drive, Clarenville. For more information contact Blanche Wiseman-Miller at 466-7457.

CANCER SUPPORT GROUP ( Clarenville )

A support group for cancer patients and their families meets at the Clarenville Lion’s Club on the last Tuesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. For more information contact Karen Pritchett at 466-5763.

Free Computer Classes   Clarenville

The 20-hour basic computer awareness session will be offered free of charge.

They will take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7–9 p.m. at College of the North Atlantic.

If you are 60 years of age or older, have little or no computer knowledge and would like to join the 200 older adults who have already completed this computer awareness session, please contact Brenda Reid at 466-2870.

The  50 + Club/SRC NL Peer Support Volunteers offer the following:

 Everyone is welcome to drop by any time

  •  WALK AWAY THE POUNDS exercise on Mondays at 10:00 A.M .
     

  •  Tai Chi Chih exercise on Tuesdays at 10:00 A.M.
     

  • Sand Rock Kurling on Tuesdays at 7:00 P.M.
     

  •  A Fitness Program designed especially for 50+  on Wednesdays at 4:00 P.M.
     

  • The above 4 exercises are held at the Father F.J. Mullowney Social Centre.
     

  •  Card Games  at the  Stella Maris Academy 50 + Room on Sunday nights at 7:30 P.M.
     

  • Their regular monthly meeting is held on the last Thursday of each month except during summer months.

Come Ride With Us!

Who:          50 + years cyclists of all abilities especially novice

When:        Wednesdays mornings at 9:00 AM                            

Where:      Meet at the west end parking lot, Bowring Park

Our Goal:   To encourage seniors to come out and ride with other             seniors. Routes will be on T'Railway or very low                                     volume traffic routes. Paracyclists are welcome.

 Cost:          Must be a member of "Bicycle Newfoundland and Labrador" (BNL). Visit website at www.bnl.nf.ca to join.

Must:         Helmets are mandatory. Bring a water bottle and also a spare tube. Someone can help if you need assistance.  Also bring change for a coffee or tea.

Community Wheels Project

The Twillingate-New World Island Community Bus is available for seniors, persons with a disability & others who have limited or no access to transportation.

Did you know??

·        The community bus is available to take you to medical appointments and for grocery store trips

·        The community bus is available to take you to church and other community functions

·        The community bus will pick you up and drop you off right at your door

·        The community bus is a free service
